AGARTALA, Aug 6 (TIWN): Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has ordered a probe into the Chakmaghat incident, saying, “Strict actions will be taken if any negligence is found committed by anyone.” The CM has expressed deep concerns about what happened and said the incident has deeply affected him.
"I have asked for a report on this incident, and if negligence is found, nobody will be punished," he told the media.
The truck driver, Mihir Lal Debnath was stuck inside his truck after he met with a road accident, but he waited for 7 to 8 hours for help. The administration failed to rescue him after attempting multiple times to bring him out.
Only three people from the emergency operation team were seen on the spot. The driver was appealing to be rescued and was suggesting how he could be rescued.
The truck door could be cut, but the truck portion that had fallen on the driver could not be removed safely.
Debnath was stuck after a portion of the truck had fallen on his middle to lower part of his body and pressed him to death.
Footage shows, the rescue operation team members were trying to turn on the road cutter machines, but they were failing.
This incident has sparked outrage of social media as public said the rescue team was lacking sufficient training and preparedness.
Public resentment also grew as allegations raised that the DCM came to the spot almost after 7 hours after the incident and Mihir waited to be rescued for 7 to 8 hours and only three persons from the rescue operation were working to rescue him.
