AGARTALA, July 26 (TIWN): Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday praised the tribal communities for their potential and emerging as frontrunners in various sectors.
CM addressed the 1st distinction honour function programme for the students of Classes X and XII ( TBSE & CBSE ) of various NGO-run Boarding Houses at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala, and said that in sports, especially football, it’s only the Janajati (tribal communities) who are the distinguished players.
“India has 700 tribes, and Tripura is the land for 19 out of them. Earlier, the Darlong community was not considered as one of them, but now they are also recognized as Janajati community,” he said.
The chief minister further praised Prime Minister Modi for his efforts to elevate the tribal communities towards progress, who are living across India.
