July 25, Sonamura (TIWN): The steel foot bridge in Sonamura's Bamboo Market has been closed indefinitely due to its dilapidated condition. A notification issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) has been put up on both sides of the bridge, and a temporary barricade has been erected to prevent pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
The bridge has been in a state of disrepair for a long time, posing a significant risk of accidents. Following reports in the media, a team of officials from the sub-divisional administration and related departments inspected the bridge and decided to close it indefinitely.
DCAM Probir Saha has appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration, stating that human life is more valuable than anything else. He assured that the bridge will be repaired and made functional again. Meanwhile, a tender has been floated for the construction of a new bridge. The administration is working to repair the old bridge and make it safe for use until the new one is built.
