Teliamura, July 18 (TIWN): A 75-year-old man named Manmohan Sarkar died after being hit by a train at Maiganga in the Teliamura police station area.
The incident has caused widespread shock and outrage among locals and railway passengers, who have questioned the role of the railway police in responding to the incident.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 8 am when a demo train traveling from Agartala to Karimganj hit Sarkar. Surprisingly, the railway police took nearly two to two and a half hours to arrive at the scene, despite the station being only 1.5 to 2 kilometers away. The mangled body lay on the tracks for a long time, and trains were stranded.
The delay in the police response has sparked outrage among railway passengers. While the exact cause of death is still unclear, it is suspected that Sarkar may have been hit by the train due to negligence while traveling to his home. The railway police eventually arrived at the scene and took the body to the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.
