AGARTALA, July 17 (TIWN): Tripura Trinamool Congress appealed to the Tripura Government to take action immediately to reduce the taxes on electricity and water.
The party also appealed to the government to withdraw the Smart meter imposition, which they said is unfair.
“Trinamool Congress gheraoed Power Minister’s home, and after police arrested us, we saw the Power Minister conduct a press meet from BJP office, claiming that if a Smart meter fault is found, then he will pay the bills of the consumers. But even after so many allegations came and consumers appeared in front of the media displaying their bills of many thousand rupees, still the government is not taking action,” said Trinamool Congress State President Santanu Saha.

“When the Smart meter crisis was going on, the government hiked water taxes. We appeal to the government to stop all these and to take steps to reduce the pressure of taxes on the public,” he added.
