AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Tripura Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury slammed Smart meters’ imposition on Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) consumers, saying it is the final stage set by the BJP-led State Government to completely privatize the corporation.
Chowdhury said, “Under the previous left-front government, TSECL was known as a pro-people corporation and was developing the services, while providing sufficient electricity to outside Tripura.”
He alleged, under the BJP Govt, the power services have been totally failing and “even at a mild wind’s blow, shutdown is occuring.”
The opposition leader criticized Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath for increasing electricity charges and now imposing Smart meters, which are causing heavy chaos.
