Kailashahar, July 15 (TIWN): In a strong protest, Congress MLA Birjit Sinha led a road blockade on the Kailashahar-Dharmanagar highway, demanding improvements in the Unakoti District Hospital's dilapidated condition and poor healthcare services.
The protesters, including Unakoti District Congress President Md. Badruzzaman and Pradesh Congress General Secretary Rudrendra Bhattacharjee, blocked the road in front of the hospital, causing disruptions to traffic. MLA Sinha criticized the state government and district administration for neglecting the hospital's maintenance and healthcare services despite repeated pleas.
He highlighted the hospital's shortcomings, including the lack of specialist doctors, unclean drinking water, poor sanitation, and unusable toilets. Sinha also criticized the hospital's patient welfare committee for not holding meetings or inviting him, despite being a local MLA.
After a one-hour blockade, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the hospital's medical superintendent, demanding immediate action to address the hospital's issues.
