Udaipur, July 14 (TIWN): The CPIM Udaipur Sub-Divisional Committee organized a protest against the installation of smart meters and excessive electricity bills. The protesters gathered in front of the Sub-Divisional Electricity Office, demanding the cancellation of smart meters, withdrawal of exorbitant electricity bills, and reduction in electricity rates.
CPIM leaders Dilip Dutta, Pradip Saha, and Rajib Sen criticized the state government's decision to install smart meters, stating that it would further burden the common people. They demanded that the state government scrap the smart meter project and reduce electricity rates. The party also demanded regular electricity supply and an end to load shedding.
A five-member delegation, led by CPIM Udaipur Division Committee member Subha Chakraborty, met with the Sub-Divisional Senior Manager of the Electricity Department, Kironmoy Chakraborty, and submitted a memorandum demanding the cancellation of smart meters, reduction in electricity rates, and regular electricity supply. The CPIM has warned that it will take legal action if its demands are not met.
