Bishalgarh, July 13 (TIWN): In a shocking incident, a mother attempted to take her own life along with her four-month-old baby by jumping into the Vijai River from a bridge in Bishalgarh market area on Sunday evening. The desperate act was a result of unbearable physical and mental torture inflicted by her husband, identified as Sabuj Miah.
Tanzina Aktar, a housewife from Boxnagar Ashabari area, couldn't withstand her husband's relentless abuse and decided to end her life. However, her attempt was foiled by passersby who rushed to her rescue and saved both her and the baby.
The situation escalated quickly, with a large crowd gathering at the scene. The enraged mob caught hold of the husband when the police arrived and took him into custody.
The incident highlights the grim reality of domestic violence and its devastating consequences. The local community came together to support the mother and baby, with the secretary of Bishalgarh Rautkhola Youth Association, Saikat Saha, arranging for the baby's food.
The police are now investigating the matter, and the accused husband has been taken into custody. The timely intervention of the locals prevented a potential tragedy, bringing relief to the community.
