Panisagar, July 5 (TIWN): A roadblock on National Highway 8 in Panisagar, North Tripura, was lifted on Monday after the Deputy Collector of Panisagar Sub-Division intervened and assured the protesters that road repair work would begin on July 12, 2025. The blockade, which was staged by local traders and vehicle operators, was a protest against the poor condition of the highway.
The protesters had been demanding action for a long time, citing the road's dilapidated state as a major obstacle to transportation and commerce. They alleged that the road's poor condition had resulted in financial losses and increased the risk of accidents. Despite repeated attempts to bring the issue to the attention of the authorities, no effective action had been taken.
The intervention by the Deputy Collector brought the situation under control, and the protesters lifted the blockade based on the assurance that repair work would begin soon. However, the protesters warned that they would resort to stronger agitation if the work does not start on time.
