Agartala, July 5 (TIWN): Amid an ongoing public meeting organized by the Congress party in Banamalipur, MLA Gopal Roy was allegedly attacked in broad daylight.

The MLA remained unharmed, but the incident has sparked widespread concern and tension in the area.

Police are currently investigating the incident and working to understand the circumstances surrounding the attack. 

The MLA urged that the authority must take necessary steps to maintain law and order and protect the safety of all citizens, including elected representatives of the opposition.

The Congress party was holding a meeting regarding leaflet distribution, and on Monday, a meeting was held at Ward No. 31 at Babul Roy’s home. During the meeting, a group of protesters reached the home and allegedly locked the meeting attendees, including MLA Gopal Roy.
