TIWN July 6, 2025

AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Addressing at the Muktadhara auditorium on the occasion of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s 125th birth anniversary, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recalled him for his oppose against Article 370. Dr. Manik Saha took pride on his party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who officially removed the 370 article in the parliament. Article 370 of the Indian Constitution granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, allowing it to have a separate constitution, flag, and internal autonomy. Under Modi government, on August 5, 2019, the Government of India issued a Presidential Order superseding the special status, making the Indian Constitution applicable to Jammu and Kashmir. The state was subsequently divided into two union territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
The move was challenged in the Supreme Court, but on December 11, 2023, a five-judge bench unanimously upheld the constitutionality of the abrogation of Article 370.
The CM also expressed concerns over the conditions of Hindus in West Bengal, stating, initiatives were taken by Mukherjee to save the Hindus there but unfortunately, today Bengal’s condition is so bad and it has to be rescued.
