AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): Tripura witnessed its third successful kidney transplantation at GB Hospital, ushering a hope for saving lives at an affordable rate in state government hospitals. The state has a high rate of kidney diseases, overloading the dialysis centers in government hospitals. But dialysis does not guarantee a longer life, driving many patients to take the best option of kidney transplant, even though it’s expensive in private hospitals. But the majority of the population is unable to afford it.
Under Dr. Manik Saha’s leadership, various new operations have been started in Tripura, and kidney transplantation is one of such critical operations.
On Monday, the GB hospital medical team declared a successful kidney operation in the hospital.
“I am very happy after this,” said CM. “Ahead of Doctor’s Day, this is such great news.”
“Both the donor and the recipient are healthy,” he added.
“I would say, in today’s time, each organ of the body can be transplanted. So we are now looking forward to starting liver and bone marrow operations here,” said CM.
