Melaghar, June 28 (TIWN): A bridge connecting Melaghar to Telkajal area in Tripura has turned into a hazardous passage for commuters due to its dilapidated state. Despite being only three years old, the bridge has developed large holes, posing a significant risk to those crossing it. The bridge, inaugurated by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, initially maintained a good condition but rapidly deteriorated after the change in government.
The iron sheets on the bridge have rusted, creating holes that make it extremely hazardous, especially at night when the streetlights are non-functional. A recent incident where a woman suffered an accident while crossing the bridge and had to be hospitalized has heightened concerns. Residents are now demanding immediate repairs to the bridge, warning that inaction could lead to more severe consequences.
The locals are urging the authorities to take prompt measures to fix the holes and ensure the bridge's safety for daily commuters. With the bridge being a vital link between Melaghar and Telkajal, its repair is crucial to prevent any potential disasters and ensure the safety of the people who use it daily.
