AGARTALA, June 28 (TIWN): In a major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police have joined hands to seize a substantial quantity of Phensedyl and ganja in Srinagar, a border area in South Tripura district. The joint operation, conducted on a tip-off, resulted in the recovery of 231 bottles of Phensedyl and approximately 16 kg of ganja, valued at around Rs 1.5 lakh.
The raid was carried out at a house in the Durga Bari area of Krishnagar Ward No. 2, where the contraband was allegedly stored for smuggling to Bangladesh. The accused, Nidan Debnath, is believed to have fled the scene upon sensing the presence of law enforcement agencies. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the suspect.
The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of the BSF and Tripura Police to combat narcotics smuggling in the region. Senior officials from Sabroom Sub-Divisional Police, BSF's 121 Battalion, and Sabroom
Sub-Divisional Administration led the operation. Further investigation is in progress to unravel the network behind this smuggling attempt.
