AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): “Perhaps that time you were not even a journalist. But so many murders happened during the CPI-M government’s time. One BJP member was killed in the earlier days, named --- Shyam Hari Sharma and again in 2016-17 many BJP workers were killed, and before that, the maximum of the murder victims were Congress,” said Minister Ratan Lal Nath to journalists at the Secretariat Saturday during a press mee. Nath was talking to the media informing that Dr. Manik Saha Govt would provide compensation to the victim families.
“BJP did not see who is CPI-M, who is Congress, and who is BJP--- it’s a shame for the then government (CPI-M) that failed to give justice to the victim families,” said Nath.
“It is our duty to stand beside those helpless families. Do you have any idea, so many murders happened and there is no record of them ? I went to Sabroom and the victim's family members while talking to me, were crying. The victim's's family members told me that they do not have record. They filed FIR, but nothing happened. I would write to CM regarding this,” said Nath.
However, Ratan Lal Nath did not mention why, as a Congress MLA and as long-time opposition leader at that time, he failed to stand beside the family and fight in the court when he was also a lawyer at that time?
So journalists asked if he had any idea whether the Congress party had a list of such victims’ names, as he spent the maximum period of his political career in Congress party?
Nath replied, “I do not know about that. Perhaps Congress might have a list of such victims and they suppressed it due to friendship (with communists). Right now, Congress has developed a deep relationship with them just like in Chaitanya Mahaprabhu style,” added Nath.
