UDAIPUR, June 2 (TIWN): Even though multiple times job aspirants, oppositions were arrested in Tripura amid peaceful gathering, SP Gomati on Monday backing Tipra Motha party’s protest said, the protesters were allowed to lock the DM office because the protest was peaceful and no violence was ignited. Over 400 TSR jawans were deployed ahead of the protest and Tipra Motha party failed to gather even hundreds of people but they successfully entered the DM office and locked the office in protest against DM Tarit Chakma’s refusal to meet Tipra Motha party leader Pradyot Debbarma at DM’s residence.

‘The protest was peaceful, symbolic and not perpetual,” said SP Gomati as a reason why police allowed Tipra Motha to lock DM Office.

Journalists asked, how the inside people will come outside and the outside people will enter the office. In response the SP stated, “Already officials had entered before the protest.”

Tipra Motha is an aligned party sharing the cabinet with the ruling BJP. Amid repeated conflicts, Tipra Motha has remained aligned with the BJP.

Reacting to the DM office gherao, Congress MLA Sudip Barman has called it a set “Drama” in attempt to use public sentiment to deviate from the real issues faced by the public.
