KAMALPUR, Feb 23 (TIWN): Bee farming appears as a challenging field to adapt for permanent livelihood but there is a proverb – When there is will, there is a way and Subal Malakar has proven it correct, by successfully battling against heavy poverty that he had witnessed since his childhood. The bee farmer in Durga Chowmuhani block who has been surviving with his family with single earning from bee-nurturing has requested Tripura’s unemployed youth to choose this profession where they can earn from home.
The bee farmer Subal Malakar, a resident of Kuchainala Panchayat has been involved in bee farming for 34 years and said, he can save over Rs. 70,000 a year.
Subal Malakar has one daughter and two sons. Along with his wife he was suffering due to heavy financial stress but he could overcome the situation after starting bee-farming.
“My father used to collect honey from original bee nests and I learned the work from him. Then I decided to continue my earning with this profession giving it a new shape. I started it 34 years back and now continuing it till now,” he told media.
“Right now, there is no job ! So I urge the unemployed youth to think about this profession,” Malakar told media.
He also mentioned, he received training from Tripura Agriculture College and in a training center in Durga Chowmuhani.
