AGARTALA, Jan 2 (TIWN): Businessmen underwent heavy losses in the capital city Agartala on Saraswati puja, held on Sunday and they have blamed the price hikes for downing sales.
The puja’s ‘tithi’ that has started today will continue up to Monday.
Talking to the media, a businessman at Battala market said, “We are still expecting some more sales later because the puja is lasting for two days. Exactly what is happening, we are unable to say this now but it might be another cause too. In comparison to last year, the sales are really low this year.”
“This year's sales are not good,” said a fruit seller. “Probably, the number of puja has decreased.”
A flower seller also alleged the same. “The Palash-flowers are at scarce, and the overall sales are also not good.”
