AGARTALA, Nov 30 (TIWN): All the women mates employed in the MNREGA project have placed a deputation demanding regular pays-cales just like other permanent and temporary workers.
They demanded, that instead of paying wages as semi-skilled workers, they should be paid like other employees.
A Deputation was placed to the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Sipahijala district Rinku Lathor in Bishramganj in this regard.
The women mates employed in the MNREGA project in Gram Panchayat and Village Councils of 7 blocks of Sepahijala district.
They said that in 2021, they were appointed to the Gram Panchayat and Village Committee through a week of training and written examination. They were appointed to look after the MNREGA work in each panchayat and village. When the REGA project work was done, they were paid wages. The first wage was 258 rupees, then it increased to 272 rupees, and currently they get 310 rupees. But their wages do not enter their bank accounts on time. Sometimes they have to wait for three to four months to get their wages.
There are 169 TGPs and VCs in the Sepahijala district. Two women mates are appointed in each Panchayat and Village to look after the work of the MNREGA project. They also demanded that the government should arrange a minimum fixed salary for them.
