NEW DELHI, Aug 9 (TIWN): Meghalaya Congress MP Saleng A. Sangma raised question in the Parliament about border security alleging lakhs of Bangladeshis are entering Northeast everyday via international borders. In his speech, the MP said, “Thousands and lakhs of illegal immigrants from Rohingya refugees are entering the states of Northeast. Thousands of kilometres are not even covered. We need preventive measures to be taken by the central government.”

He went on and added, “We don't have proper security in our state. Yesterday, 1000 Bangladeshis tried to cross into Meghalaya through the borders illegally.”
