Comilla / Agartala, Feb 4 (TIWN):Bangladesh has appealed to security forces and police in Tripura to watch out for saboteurs who may be escaping into its territory after acts of sabotage in Comilla-Brahmanbaria region.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) chief Benzir Ahmed told TIWN that they have caught some BNP-Jamaat activists responsible for sabotage on railway tracks in the Comilla-Brahmanbaria region.

"The usual tendency of criminals in that area is to flee to Tripura whenever they are under pressure from our law enforcing agencies," Ahmed said.

He said intelligence had reports that some such saboteurs and trouble makers have crossed into Tripura already and some more may be trying to do that.

"The Tripura government is very friendly towards Bangladesh. We expect their agencies and forces would maintain great vigil and try catching any of these saboteurs."

He said if any such suspected Bangladesh national is caught, Tripura should promptly hand them over to Bangladesh authorities so that they can be interrogated and more trouble makers can be caught.

A teenage boy has been detained by Ansar personnel while trying to sabotage the Dhaka-Chittagong Railway at Kasba in Brahmanbaria amid BNP-led alliance’s countrywide blockade.

The 13-year-old boy (name not disclosed) hails from the Upazila’s Kayumpur village.

Akhaura Railway Police’s OC Yasin Faruk said on Tuesday night the boy was trying to escape after removing three clips from the rail track near Nayanpur area in Kasba.

He was intercepted by on-duty Ansar personnel Mansur.

“After interrogation the boy confessed about the sabotage to police”

He was sent to jail from the court on Wednesday, said police officer Yasin.
