AGARTALA, June 29 (TIWN): A protest march was held on Monday by the Gomati District Congress Party in protest of the infernal incident that took place in the name of eviction of hawkers by bringing down bulldozers in the city of Udaipur with a large police force under the leadership of Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Shital Majumdar.

The procession started from the office of Jamtala Congress Party and proceeded through Central Road, Old Motor Stand, Newtown Road in front of the Municipal Council office to protest against the eviction of hawkers.

Gomati District Congress Party President Titon Pal said that in the name of cleaning the city of Udaipur, evictions were done, devastating the hawkers. Udaipur Municipal Council should make arrangements to compensate all the damages caused to hawkers in the name of eviction of hawkers last Thursday.
