AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): Tripura BJP thanked state leadership led by Dr. Manik Saha after the party won 71% seats uncontested. The BJP party continues massive campaigning statewide. BJP said, oppositions are unable to get candidates and the massive winning without poll, shows people are with BJP. It can be noted that amid mass rigging allegations, and murder of CPI-M candidate, BJP managed to win 71% seats “uncontested” at the Gram Panchayat level. Election Dept Secretary Ashit Kumar Das said, “After the Panchayat nomination withdrawal date was crossed deadline, it shows 4550 seats were won uncontested out of 6370 seats. If I talk about the party-wise seat bagging, these are such as --- BJP 1818 CPI-M 1222, INC 731, Motha 838, CPIM(L) 5 and independent 127.”

Apart from that 58% seats were won at the Panchayat Samiti level without contest by BJP.

Also, BJP won 17% Jila Parishad seats as “uncontested”.
