Agartala, February 3 (TIWN): Rejecting the bail pleas of scamster Bimal Chakraborty and seven other accused persons involved in massive financial irregularities of Bishalghar RD block, the Additional District and Sessions Court, West district (court no-2) Justice Udit Chowdhury sent them to jail custody till February 12, said an official of Sipahijala police administration here today.

The seven other accused persons are; Shayamal Debbarma (GRS), Sarada Debbarma (GRS), Nibas Pal (Junior Mechanic), Kishore Kumar Banik (Jr. Engineer), Partha Sarkar (Jr. Mechanic), Gautam Pal (Work Assistant and Chayan Nandi (Technical Assistant), said police. They will be produced before the Additional District and Sessions Court, West district on February 13.

Asked about the possibility of getting bail order for scamster Bimal, “If the court starts custody trial, there is no probability of getting bail during the trial otherwise Bimal’s bail plea is likely to be agreed by the court reportedly after the completion 180 days of arrest. The prime accused has already spent 104 days behind the bars since his arrest”, said the official source.

However, studying the bail pleas of Bimal and other involved persons in multi-crore MGNREGA scam, the court rejected the bail appeals and sent them to jail custody till February 12, he said.

While the Investigation Officer of this scam case is on hurry to frame the complete charge-sheet before the court, the total 12 FIR named accused persons, Debprasad Nandi (GRS) and Mita Malakar (Junior Engineer) are still at large.
