AGARTALA, April 13 (TIWN): Keeping the Bengali New Year ahead, Hilsa fish prices have increased in Agartala, causing troubles for middle-class population and making them inaccessible to the poor.
Fresh hilsa prices are at least Rs. 1,700 to Rs. 1,800 in Battala market, Agartala, whereas the old fish (in freeze condition) are Rs. 1,500 and small Hilsa are from rs. 1,000 to Rs, 1,200.
Whereas other fish like 'Pabda', 'Katla' are also in demand, all fish categories are expecting to see rise taking the opportunity of high demand.
"Fresh Hilsa fish rates are around Rs. 1,800 and freeze Hilsa fish rates are Rs. 1,500", said a fish seller in Battala, Agartala.
The Hilsa fish mostly have been brought from Chadpur, Bangladesh.
