AGARTALA, April 10 (TIWN): Senior advocate, Congress leader Pijush Kanti Biswas on Wednesday doubted India’s democratic stature in the future if the BJP comes to power. Biswas said while addressing Congress Bhawan, “This election is very important. This will decide the future of India. It will decide whether democracy will exist or not. It will decide if the constitution will survive or not.”
“Everyone is saying the same that if Narendra Modi-led BJP comes to power, democracy will not be functional. In fact, election will be stopped,” said Biswas.
“PM Modi ruled India as a prime minister but he failed to keep promises given to the people. Before 10 years he said, within 100 days black money will be returned to the country and people will get Rs. 15 lakhs in account. He assured us to provide 2 crores jobs per year. He gave many promises but forgot. Today he does not talk about those promises. In 10 years, not even 10 lakhs jobs were given,” said Biswas.
