AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN): Seeking a constitutional solution for the Tiprasa, the Tipra Motha party started a hunger strike in Baramura. Tipra Motha supremo said, the Govt of India has to fulfill its given promise and has to give its promise in writing; otherwise the strike would not stop. A 'puja' was offered ahead of the hunger strike had started at Hathai Kathwar (Baramura). Thousands of people gathered on the spot extending support to the hunger strike.
Before the strike started, on 26th February after returning from Delhi Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Manikya told media that he could not keep his people in confusion by trusting Govt of India’s verbal assurances,
He returned from Delhi after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah after Pradyot Manikya declared to go for a hunger strike for the constitutional solution for the Tiprasa people.
“My point is very clear. I am not going to trust anybody’s verbal assurance. I want promises in writing. Otherwise, I will be strict with my plan for the Hunger strike at Hathwai Kathar”.
“I know some leaders among Tiprasa are selfish. But I want to unit all Tiprasa so that I can give something to the next generation of the Tiprasa,” Pradyot Manikya told media.
