The incident took place on Monday morning and police could arrest the culprit within a day.

The arrested man was named Raj Pal.

With the help of CCTV footage and local people, police could identify him.

Raj claimed, he got around five hundred rupees from the donation box whereas the temple priest said, at least five to six thousand rupees should have been stolen from the box.

Police are now investigating the matter.
