AGARTALA, Jan 30 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Minister Santana Chakma, and other high officials were present with the Governor at Gandhighaat, Agartala and paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram….”, the song was being sung in the background which is traditionally done every year at Gandhighaat on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth and death anniversaries. Gandhi, the freedom fighter was assassinated by extremist Nathuram Godse on 30th January 1948 with a gunshot.
Talking to the media, Governor Indra Sena Nallu said, “Mahatma Gandhi has fought for India’s independence. Gandhi’s vision was all about how after independence, India could emerge as a strong and developing nation.
“Gandhi wanted development of the entire nation starting from village to all states. So, following the paths of Mahatma Gandhi, how we can take our country ahead and can develop our own state Tripura, I believe we would work together in that direction”, said the Governor.
Mahatma Gandhi’s statue was garlanded by the Governor at Gandhighaat.
