AGARTALA, Nov 30 (TIWN): Ahead of Lok Sabha Election, Tripura BJP on Thursday suspended its former legislator Arun Chandra Bhowmik from the party due to anti-party activities. Arun Chandra Bhoumik was suspended from the party for 6 years. Bhowmik served as BJP MLA from Belonia constituency from 2018 to 2023. Apart from politics, Bhowmik has been a famous lawyer of the state's High Court and worked on much discussed 10323 teachers' case.
In the suspension letter signed by the media in charge of BJP Sunit Sarkar, it's written, "The former MLA has been expelled from the party for anti-party activities and for compromising party ideology and ethics. His suspension is effected immediately."
Arun Chandra Bhowmik was a famous Congress leader, who joined in BJP in 2016 and started working from the ground level. He is considered one of the most senior leaders of BJP and started working for the party when the party had no base in the state. He worked closely with former BJP State President Late Sudhindra Dasgupta (another senior leader who was dropped from state President post before 2018 poll) and Sunil Deodhar (National BJP Leader, started working in Tripura from zero base of the BJP party).
