AGARTALA, Nov 19 (TIWN): Australia won 2023 Men's Cricket World Cup on Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat. This has been heartbreaking for crores of Indians who were waiting for the night to see India’s historical winning. India scored 240 runs and Australia won by 43 over, losing 4 wickets. Reacting to the unexpected defeat of team India, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) commented, “Team India put up a solid fight but it was not our night in the CWC23 Final”.

PM Modi in his X page congratulated Team Australia and encouraged Team India for their significant effort. Modi said the people of India will be always beside ‘you’ (Team India).

Virat Kohli has been named the Player of the Series. Virat Kohli's 765 runs are the most for any batter in the history of the World Cup. Kohli scored his runs at a stunning average of 95.62 and strike rate of 90.31 to hit three centuries and six fifties.

In Tripura also, people expressed their frustration over this world-cup jolt, when India was in its best form. Ruling BJP party had organized live telecasts of the match in various corners of the state but all hopes were tarnished till the next World Cup.
