AGARTALA, Nov 18 (TIWN): In an ironical scenario, opposite to the much-hyped improved electricity services under TSECL, local people of Surjamani Nagar almost every day gather at the powerhouse of their locality. But why? On being asked, a locals said, they have to come to the powerhouse everyday to charge their mobile phones as power cuts are regular problems for them. Often they do that. Recently, cyclone had caused power cuts across the area, and as a result, the consumers had to visit the powerhouse to charge up their phones.

The locals earlier also complaine about power cuts, water crisis related problems but even though Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath claims that massive improvement has come to the Electricity services and Power Dept earning huge revenue by supplying electricity to neighboring country and states but in reality, there is no improvement in Surjamani Nagar area.

"Everyone comes here often to charge their phones. Since yesterday, we have been cut from electricity services and so we had to come", said a young man who came from Kanchanmala.
