AGARTALA, Nov 17 (TIWN): Tripura Forest Department employees who works under ‘Banamitra’ project demanded pay hikes and regular pay, along with a guaranteed 30 days work per month. A demonstration was staged in front of the Forest Department office in Agartala by the stakeholders (employees) with their financial demands. The employees informed media that they are provided with only 20 days of works, which is insufficient for their survival and the amount they are getting from the Govt department is also very low and needs immediate upgradation. The resented employees also told media, they are not getting regular payments per months and have to wait few months for the clearance of their payments. Contractual employees are mostly from poor backgrounds and at various times allegations of exploitation are raised against the authority.
Same situation prevails over the engagement of mid-day-meal, SSB volunteers, ASHA and many other contractual employment systems.
Now, it’s to be seen whether any effect can be brought by the employees with the demonstration that was staged in front of the Forest Department on Friday.
