AGARTALA, Oct 8 (TIWN): Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma slammed the BJP led State Govt for increased Electricity charges. “We all know, what kind of services are provided by Tripura Power Dept. Even in the area from where I am, that is Asharambari, once electricity is gone, it does not come for many days. In such a pathetic condition of the power services, why the power charges were increased? When many states like Delhi, and Punjab are giving free electricity or taking very minimum charges. Why can’t Tripura Govt follow their model ?” The statement came after Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath had defended the electricity tariff raises saying only 7% was increased.

Animesh Debbarma also lashed out at the Tripura Govt for its silent role against huge charges for Adhaar and PAN links.

Addressing media, Animesh Debbarma said, first of all, as per Supreme Court's order Adhaar is not mandatory. So if Adhaar is not mandatory why this link ?

“If link has to be done, why it’s charging 1000 per link? It means if a family has 5 persons, they have to pay 5000 for linking ? Our CM is totally silent over the matter. He should come up and take action. I demand this linking process should be stopped and charging for linking, also has to be stopped”, said Animesh Debbarma.

On the other hand, blaming the previous Left Front for rising 134% Electricity Bills, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday claimed that BJP Govt only increased 7% of the Electricity Bills.
