Agartala, January 26 (TIWN): With initiative of West District Chief Medical Officer’s office, the second phase of Pulse-Polio Immunization drive will be conducted on February 26, next covering the children between the ages zero to five years.
According to a source of West district administration, to hold the programme and to ensure that every child is vaccinated officers and staffs from various departments have been put on alert and given specific tasks to mobilize resources to cover every child under the programme. The drive will be conducted from 8 am to 4 pm on the specific date, added the source.
Asked about the status of first phase of polio vaccination programme, “Altogether 54945 children were administered pulse polio drop in West Tripura district. A total of 3068 staffs including health workers, Anganwadi staffs, Asha workers and volunteers have participated in the programme”, said the source.
“As many as 767 polio booths were opened to complete the first phase of vaccination drive in West district while a total of 64 supervisors were assigned to finish the tasks”, he added.
Besides, a vast number of health workers administered polio drops to the children (0 to 5 years) by reaching at door to door till January 20, said the source.
It is worthy to mention here that the Central Government had launched the pulse-polio drive in order to make a polio-free country. The pulse-polio drive takes the care of vaccinating every child of the specified age.
