AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): While placing Tripura Budget 2023-24 Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said, ‘Mukhyamantri Tribal Development Mission’ allocateed Rs. 30 Crores and on the other hand World Bank Board approved Rs. 1435 Crore for improving quality of life through livelihood and infrastructure development.
Covering other areas under Tribal Welfare, development, the Minister said, “Three new ST College Hostels attached to (i) Women’s College, Agartala (ii) Ambedkar College, Fatikroy and (iii) Gandacherra Govt. Degree College have been constructed. Two new Tribal Rest Houses namely (i) Kumari Madhuti Rupasree at Melarmath, Agartala and (ii) Kalachera Tribal Rest House at Sabroom, South Tripura have been made functional. 66. One new Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Nalichara, Ambassa has been completed and made functional. Construction work of 12 new EMRSs are in progress. 12 67. Soft loan have been provided to 539 ST youths and Education loan have been provided to 13 ST students by Tripura ST Development Co-operative Corporation Ltd”.
“A theme based musical water fountain is proposed to be established at TTAADC Head Quarters, Khumulwng with an outlay of Rs. 1 Cr during FY 2023-24 for beautification and attraction of tourists. Under the Chief Minister's Rubber Mini Mission, 9,517 ST beneficiaries have been benefited and 8,400 ha plantation has been done. Fifty smoke houses will be constructed at an outlay of Rs. 27.50 Cr over next 2(two) years for Tribal rubber growers. I am happy to announce that World Bank Board has approved Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) with an outlay of Rs. 1435 Cr (US $ 175 m) for improving quality of life of tribal communities at Tripura through sustainable livelihood and infrastructure development. The project will be formally launched in next few months”, Roy said.
“I propose to launch a new mission namely ‘Mukhyamantri Tribal Development Mission’ for comprehensive development of tribal areas with focus on Education, Health, Roads, Nutrition, Sanitation and Drinking Water services. I have kept an amount of Rs. 30 Cr in the Budget Estimates of FY 2023-24 for implementing the mission, which will also provide free education and accommodation for the deserving ST students in top ranking Indian universities”, the Minister added.
