AGARTALA, June 29 (TIWN): Tripura Congress has paid tribute to “Rath Jatra” victims who lost their lives due to electricity accident after a high volt electric wire had fallen upon them.
The Congress had paid tribute to the victim by lighting candle and praying for the departed souls.
In the horrifying incident, 7 persons died and 6 are serious with burn injuries in Kumarghat after during Ratha Yatra festival electric wire had fallen on the iron made Rath structure (chariot) on Wednesday.
Many human bodies were seen burnt alive, whereas many were screaming while trapped inside the Rath. People were screaming seeing the devastating scenario and bodies were set on fire and few trapped inside the Rath were screaming for help.
Talking to the eye-witnesses, they said the Rath is iron made and that’s why the electricity accident happened. However, public also raised question, why the power-cut was not conducted during the Rath jatra.
Tripura Govt has ordered an inquiry over the incident.
