AGARTALA/ DHAKA, Jan 25 (TIWN / bdnews24.com ): Many Tripura residents use 'Jayantika' and other trains on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet route because they touch Akhaura , which is an important entry point into Tripura from Bangladesh.
Dhaka's rail communication with Chittagong and Sylhet has been cut off after a passenger train derailed at Brahmanbaria.
Several passengers have been injured in the accident, said Brahmanbarhia Railway Station's Assistant Master Moinul Hossain.
He said six carraiges of the inter-city 'Joyontika Express' derailed near the Paghachong station around 2pm.
It was not immediately clear whether this was caused by sabotage amid the BNP's ongoing blockade.
A relief train was heading to the spot of the accident, officials said.
