DHARMANAGAR, June 27 (TIWN): Agitated public on Tuesday blocked road seeking immediate relief from pathetic road condition due to which they have been suffering since a long time. Many times locals complained to the authority but remains without outcome. The two and a half km Dharmanagar Kadamtala main road to Bhagyapur via Yakubnagar is in a very bad condition.

For last many years, the villagers have repeatedly placed their demands before the leaders, ministers and senior officials of the department for the repairment of this road. But nothing was gained.

Finally, on Tuesday, the locals blocked the Dharmanagar-Kadamtala main road in Sonar Basa area.

The blockade started at 10 am on Tuesday.

Dharmanagar police rushed to the area to clear the blockade and to ensure safety to the public. Various officials including the executive engineer Sukomal Chakma reached. But according to local residents, the road will be opened if the District Magistrate or Chief Engineer gives them full assurance.

The agitators said, it has become a daily suffering for school students to go to school on this road.

The District Magistrate did not come and sent a senior DC Sanjeeb Das a little late. But the words of this DC did not satisfy the villagers. They seek assurances from higher authorities.

It should be noted that last year, for the renovation of this road, Dharmanagar PWD sent a copy of the plan for the renovation of the road to the higher authorities. But the higher authorities have not taken any concrete action till now.

The villagers said that the leaders-ministers and office officials are avoiding them day after day without fulfilling their demands.

The blockade caused massive traffic jams in the area.
