AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): Amid rising unemployment problems in Tripura, where the state is 8th in unemployment rate, Minister Sudhangshu Das had assured on June 14 that soon employees will be recruited. “I have come to know that around 300 fishery officers are in Tripura and in coming days, definitely we will take action to recruit employees”, said Das. However, he did not set any timeline for the recruitment. But it’s now 12 days since the announcement but no primary step was taken to recruit Fishery Officers whereas unemployment among Fishery, Agriculture Depts is high. Many unemployed candidates are working on contract with an uncertain future.

According to CMIE, Tripura is in now 8th position in unemployment rate in May-2023.

Although Tripura’s rank has gone down in compare to the last years but the unemployment numbers or % have not been decreased, rather the data shows that Indian many states’ unemployment rates have been increased.

Tripura’s unemployment rate is 11.7% in May 2023

According to current CMIE figures published in May 2023, among the Indian states, it was estimated that the Unemployment Rate is very high in Haryana, with 29.4% followed by Rajasthan (28.3%) and Rajasthan (28.3%). This is worrisome since high level of unemployment adversely affects livelihood security of workers and their families as they have no means of subsistence other than salary/wage earned through employment.
