AGARTALA, June 25 (TIWN): Amid an ‘artificial’ blood crisis continues in Tripura for decades, Tripura Minister Ratan Lal Nath asked people to come forward to donate blood.

“There is no other better service than blood donation. Other things / organs can be arranged in exchange for money but blood can’t be purchased”, said Ratan Lal Nath although the blood banks of Tripura hardly give blood to the patients unless the patient party can arrange another blood donor.

Access to rare blood groups’ blood banks is almost impossible now where the common blood groups’ blood is also not available. Many deaths happened in the last few years due to blood crisis and the much-hyped blood donation system as per rotation started since former Health Minister Sudip Barman’s time could not work out.

Recently CM Manik Saha ordered an inquiry at GB Blood Bank incident where a patient party did not receive blood even after showing blood donation certificate.

Ratan Lal Nath was addressing at the Blood Donation Camp of TSECL Workers & Employees Sangh at Bipani Bitan, Durga Chowmuhani when said so.

Nath quoted Swami Vivekananda’s “Service to man is service to God” quote during his speech.
