AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): Raising ‘Bhupesh Debbarma down down..…’ slogan Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest at Tripura University demanding termination of the Philosophy Dept Professor Bhupesh Debbarma for allegedly mentally harassing a girl student during viva test. So far Bhupesh Debbarma was not arrested, although SP West Kiran Kumar said, notice was sent to the Professor and also the Professor met police for answering queries. ABVP demanded that Bhupesh Debbarma should be made out of the campus and terminated during investigation. ABVP leaders said, if proper action is not taken, then they will go for massive protest.

High profile case of Tripura Central University where a Professor of the Philosophy Dept named Bhupesh Debbarma was accused of harassing a girl student during viva test with sexual questions is turning a blind case as no proof on behalf or against the Professor could be Collected. Viva tests are not recorded in such a big University, which is itself a shame that has caused all the confusion. On social media former students of the Dept have given mixed responses about the professor. Some students accused him as a seasonal pervert and some said, Bhupesh Debbarman carries a clean character. Some raised question why no other student raised such complaints against him and some raised question, why the student would take one professor’s name only if she is not a victim.

Talking to SP West Kiran Kumar, he said, Professor has been noticed and the investigation will be in detail. The Professor also has attended an interrogation, said the SP. So far no section for arrest was imposed.

The SP also asked students including those who are minor not to hide such incidents and to complaint it to parents immediately so that an warning sign can be received.
