AGARTALA, January 24 (TIWN): Security has been strengthened in Tripura ahead of Republic day celebrations at Assam Rifles Ground on January 26.
Taking to TIWN today Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the paramilitary Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF), Balaram Shil said the force is taking extra measures to ensure fool-proof security.
The paramilitary personnel will be on their toes on Republic Day. "Special security arrangements are being made for 26 January," said Shil.
He further said though there was no specific input on possible militant attack, the security men were put on a general alert.
“Though there is no specific input, everything is in place to ensure a peaceful Republic Day,” he said.
“Adequate security arrangements have been made as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order and to foil any attempt by subversive elements to disrupt the upcoming Republic Day celebrations on January 26,” Balaram Shil added.
The entire country has been put on alert ahead of Obama's visit. He will become the first U.S. President to grace the Republic Day celebrations at Rajpath, New Delhi.
