AGARTALA, June 11 (TIWN): Increasing Drug-Addiction in society is destroying Tripura’s young generation’s future. Youths are becoming drug-addicted and also involving themselves in drug-peddling.
A youth with a large quantity of brown sugar arrested with the help of CRPF and Teliamura police and Special Branch of Teliamura police station. The incident took place on Sunday in the area adjacent to Chakmaghat bridge under Teliamura sub-division.
For last several days, an unidentified youth was seen roaming suspiciously in the Chakmaghat area.
Later, CRPF 71st Battalion at Chakmaghat of Teliamura with the help of Special Branch of Teliamura Police Station and police of Teliamura Police Station arrested the young man from the area adjacent to Chakmaghat Barrage and searched him and recovered 91 kilos of brown sugar from him.
It is known that the arrested man's name is Bijay Debbarma.
His home is in Ganganagar area of Dhalai district. According to Teliamura police sources, for several days, the young man was carrying out drug trafficking from his paternal uncle's house in Chakmaghat.
The market value of the brown sugars recovered from him will be approximately Rs 50,000. At present, the police of Teliamura police station are interrogating the young man in Teliamura police station, and the police of Teliamura police station are also investigating who else is involved with this drug empire.
