AGARTALA, June 10 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Biplab Deb who claimed Hilsha Fish cultivation can have a better future for Tripura and duck-rearing, cow-rearing can make youths rich within the shortest time, could though influence a little section of the population but the outcome for the followers resulted in a void. Biplab Deb attempted to inspire youths by saying Govt job is not the option for a better life, whereas Minister Ratan Lal Nath claimed a pig-rearer can earn better than a teacher. A youth named Chandrashekhar Roy who started Dragon flower cultivation before 2 and half years could not make any profit yet even after spending lakhs. He said, in first year the fruits were so less that his family only could enjoy a few dragon fruits whereas this year due to lack of water irrigation (for such cultivation different irrigation system is recommended) the entire crop is failing.
Chandrashekhar is a resident of DM Colony, Teliamura. Chandrashekhar said, not only Biplab Deb but the then Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy also recommended this cultivation. However, the youth has requested the State Govt to help him so that he can overcome losses.
Biplab Deb earlier distributed ducks in the Melaghar area which raised doubts of massive corruption and at the end, that project was also failed. On the other hand, Biplab Deb was criticized nationally for his suggestion to youths to rear cows and to open paan shops.
