AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): On 2/09/2015, on the day of the ‘Bharat Bandh’ leftist activists Tapas Dutta, Trilokesh Sinha, and Babul Debnath created a ruckus in Belonia court premises. Based on this incident District and Sessions Judge Ashutosh Pandey sentenced the three accused to two years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with the Belonia court attack.
On the day of the incident, the District and Sessions Judge Ruhidas Pal was verbally abused in the court and pressured the court staff to close the court as well as pressured the judge to close the court. Later on, after getting the information, the then Belonia SDPO and the OC of the police station rushed there. The police had taken suo-moto case against these three leftist leaders.
The police have filed a charge sheet under Section 447/353/332/34 IPC before the court. After a long hearing the court in 447/34 IPC punished two months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500 including 10 months of imprisonment.
Later, the three accused separately appealed to the district court for bail. The court combined the three appeals and announced the lower court verdict today, Sessions Court Ashutosh Pandey upheld the judgment of the lower court.
