AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): Over 800 drug stores are running without pharmacists and around 600 drug stores have not renewed their licence. Higher Officials also have no idea, about how many drug stores are running illegally. In state total 3000 Registered Pharmacists are available, but the Department disclosed that around 3500-3800 drug stores are running, which means 500-800 drug stores have been running illegally since long.

State and Central Govt has said to provide Importance on Generic Medicine but no one is there to check whether the Prohibited drugs are being sold or not. State CM is a Doctor and to change the Health Department the officials of the department have to take initiative but it has seen some officials are playing a slumbering and inactive role.

It is noted the officials of the Department are on break from raiding Water Labs to check whether the water labs are selling water by purifying water or not and to check whether they have proper Documents or not. Also, no responsible official isn’t seen to take initiative to check whether the nursing homes are running by following ‘Clinical Establishment Act’ or not.   

Shocking fact is over 600 drug stores without Renewal, which is crime and such crimes, are going on full-fledged. Survey declares that more than 60% f stores have pharmacists on paper, but they are not even seen two days a year. It is alleged that among the 17-18 Drug Inspectors, 8 Inspectors are working in West District and others in different Districts but they are not working in a proper manner.

It is to be seen whether the officials of the concerned Department will take proper steps to solve the matter or not.
