AGARTALA, January 21 (TIWN): The Tripura High Court on its recent verdict has asked for fixing rate chart in every passenger vehicles including the auto-rickshaws by January 20. But keeping their babugiri trend the unruly auto drivers showing a thumb to the HC order have not fixed any rate charts till date.
No fixed rate charts has been found in the passenger auto till today, whereas the drivers were supposed to fix the rate chart by January 20. Showing a thumb to the HC’s recent order the unruly drivers has been charging high price on their own way from the deprived passengers.
Talking to the reporters here at the secretariat, Tripura Transport Secretary Samarjit Bhowmik said that all the district transport offices were instructed to enforce the fare chart. Beside a stern action will be taken against the unruly drivers in regard of fixing the fair charts on their vehicles, said Bhowmik.
High Court on its recent order asked the state govt. to fix rates applicable on all routes along with proper stoppages for passengers to embark and disembark. The take of auto-rickshaw drivers should be duly taken into account during the process.
The HC recently instructed the state government to fix fare rates in keeping with the rising prices of diesel, petrol and CNG. The state last revised fare rates for auto-rickshaws on November 08, 2012. Beside the HC has also asked the state govt. to revise auto fare every 6 months.
The review meeting of Transport Department held at the secretariat recently has decided the auto fare charts to be implemented by January 20.
