BJP to declare Speaker Candidate’s name soon : Last Date of Nomination submission 23rd March

AGARTALA, March 20 (TIWN): Tripura Speaker poll is to be held on March 24 and March 23 is the last date for nomination submission. However, BJP yet to declare candidate's name yet whereas opposition has declared the candidate's name. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday laughed at the opposition parties for taking each other’s help to defeat BJP at each step. The statement came from CM after Opposition CPI-M, Congress, Tipra Motha had announced Congress MLA Gopal Roy’s name as the Speaker candidate for the Assembly.

CM said, “The opposition parties have no other work. They are busy for taking each other’s help to challenge BJP. At first they took help of two parties and now the third party has been added. That’s all their work. But, their defeat is inevitable”.

On being asked by media who are going to be BJP’s speaker candidate, CM Dr. Manik Saha said, it will be announced shortly.

Congress has nominated Gopal Roy as the candidate for the speaker post. Congress President Birjit Sinha on Monday has announced. Sinha said that the first proposal of Gopal Roy’s name for the Speaker post was given by CPI-M whereas the second was placed by Tipra Motha party. Birjit Sinha also said, in the coming days, Opposition will play a role of construction opponent group and will definitely support the Govt in all works. He said, opposition will support the Govt at each step taken for the people of Tripura’s benefit.

23rd March is the last date for nomination submission and the election to be held on 24th March.

“Only 38.9% votes have received by the BJP. More than 60% people have uncast the BJP from voting. Opposition has an important role to play in the Assembly and outside the Assembly”, said Birjit Sinha.
